Contact Information

  • Does my child need Occupational Therapy?
Paediatric Occupational Therapists enable children to participate in activities that they want or need to do as a part of their daily life. This can include activities and tasks related to self-care, school and play. We focus on a child's strengths, unpack their challenges and help their support networks to better understand their needs. Our goal is to empower children to participate in meaningful activities that develop their skills, independence and confidence. We can support children experiencing difficulties or delays in development that are impacting their ability to engage in everyday routines. We can help with areas such as: - Motor skills (fine & gross motor) - Sensory processing - Emotional regulation & attention - Independence in self-care (toileting, dressing, sleeping) - Play skills More information on how we can help your child can be found on our services page.
  • How do I book an appointment?
To discuss your referral and see if Little Daisy OT would be a good fit, you can contact us via our website or email at info@littledaisyot.com.au
  • Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral for any of our services. If you would like to claim rebates from Medicare then you need a referral from your GP.
  • Do you see children funded by NDIS?
Yes, we can support children on NDIS plans. However, we can only accept NDIS referrals for children who are self-managed or plan managed.
  • What if my child needs therapy but doesn't have funding?
If you have concerns about your child’s development and require support with accessing services, please speak with your GP or Paediatrician about this. You can also contact the local Early Childhood Early Intervention or NDIS office directly (www.ndis.gov.au) If you need more information of who we can provide services to, see our fees & funding page.
  • What happens in therapy?
We use a play-based approach to therapy to promote participation. Play can help children express themselves, understand the world around them and most importantly - have fun! Therapy sessions may focus on skill development, adapting the environment to enable participation, using adaptive tools and aids to support independence or consultation/coaching around how to support daily routines. More details about our services can be found on our services page.
  • What should I expect in my first appointment?
Your first appointment is often called an "initial assessment" session as it is an opportunity for the therapist to gather more information so that we can get to know your child and family better. This allows us to understand what your child's needs are, develop goals and make a plan for therapy. This session takes approximately 60-minutes face-to-face. The remaining 60-minutes is allocated for the therapist to develop a therapy plan and complete documentation. Your therapist will provide you a copy of the therapy plan and any recommendations discussed during the session. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you have along the way.
  • How long does a therapy session go for?
Sessions typically go for 60 minutes; however, we do offer 75-minute sessions if more time is required for parent consultation. Individual therapy sessions include: - Direct therapy and parent coaching/feedback (face-to-face) - Indirect therapy time which includes documentation and the development of therapeutic resources related to therapy goals. At the conclusion of each session, you will receive a copy recommendations. We can tailor the session length to your child and family depending on needs and goals. Session length will be discussed with you in the initial session and can be changed at any stage of the therapy process.
  • Where does therapy take place?
Little Daisy Occupational Therapy is a mobile and clinic-based service. The location of sessions is determined by your individual goals. We offer sessions at our clinic in Frankston, at your home or education setting (kindergarten, childcare or home). During your initial appointment, we will discuss your specific goals of therapy and arrange where the sessions will be best located.
  • How long will my child need to do therapy for?
The number of sessions needed to achieve your goals varies for each individual child and family. Your therapist will be able to give you a better indication of the number of sessions needed after your initial appointment together and this will continue to be assessed on an ongoing basis throughout therapy.
  • How and when do I pay for the session?
Payments are due in full on the day of your appointment- unless otherwise specified. Payments can be made via credit card, EFTPOS or direct deposit.
  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If for any reason, you need to cancel or re-schedule an appointment, please give a minimum of 48 hours' notice. If you cancel less than 48 hours prior to your appointment or do not attend your appointment, you may incur a cancellation fee of the full session cost. If you accept a re-scheduled appointment time, this fee may be waived. The cancellation fee will be charged on the day to the credit/debit card that we have securely stored on our software system as per the signed credit/debit card authority form that is to be completed at your initial appointment. Please make every effort to notify the practice if you are unable to attend an appointment- there are often other clients waiting for appointments, and it would be appreciated if other clients could be given the opportunity to come in. If a cancellation was made due to unavoidable circumstances, we will try our best to offer an alternate appointment time. If two consecutive cancellations are made, then it is at the discretion of Little Daisy Occupational Therapy to request that fees are prepaid for future sessions.
